Eating disorders are behavioral conditions characterized by severe and persistent disturbance in eating behaviors and associated distressing thoughts and emotions. They can be very serious conditions affecting physical, psychological and social function.

Outpatient eating disorder therapy is a service offered here at Advanced Treatment Solutions with a Licensed Professional Counselor, in which the client and counselor will meet for individual therapy (or accompanied by an adult if client is a minor) to address the following diagnoses: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED). This particular service is best for adolescent and adult men and women who need support and tools to help them manage their eating disorder behaviors. It is most effective with clients who have established weight restoration, who are medically stable, and motivated for change. The counselor’s role is to offer a safe and supportive environment to learn about oneself and their eating disorder through a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework. They will be taught to replace negative coping mechanisms with newly identified skills. Assessments for higher level of care will be performed ongoing throughout the treatment process.
