Erica Cahn is a psychotherapist and addiction specialist. 

Erica is a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) through the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health. After graduating with her Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University, Erica began her career working as a clinician with adults with developmental disabilities in a day and residential treatment program. Although born and raised in New York, Erica moved to Connecticut when the opportunity to work with individuals with opioid dependence and other psychosocial issues in a medication assisted treatment (MAT) setting presented itself. 

Erica has extensive experience and knowledge regarding substance use issues, co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety as well as life transitions, adolescent issues and transition to college life and young adulthood. Erica applies Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) approaches and as well as using the strengths based perspective when meeting with her clients both individual and group therapy. Most importantly, Erica meets her clients where they are and works to promote both hope and courage as they face challenges. Erica believes that with the proper support and therapy, anyone can get a fresh start and create a new beginning.

Erica graduated from Ramapo College where she received her Bachelor of Social Work: Magna Cum Laude, Phi Alpha Honor Society. She earned her Master of Social Work at Fordham University.

Erica not only values time spent with family and friends, but also enjoys adventures. Whether it’s traveling to a new place or seeing a Broadway show in New York City, she’s always ready to rise to the occasion.  If she’s not relaxing on the beach in the summer, or out apple picking in the fall, you will find Erica attending a recovery focused event or a lecture for addiction professionals.

 

Erica believes that it’s the little things that make the biggest difference for people and she strives daily to the best person she can be.

 

Erica also offers private, “HIPAA compliant" online video one to one counseling via Telehealth for her high school, college and business clients with challenging schedules. 

 

Erica is currently accepting new clients for afternoon and evening times at both our Farmington office and via Telehealth.
